On My Mind | December 2022

Happy December!!!! Can you believe we’re officially in the last month of the year?! It feels like just *yesterday* I was writing my first appointment in my brand new 2022 planner…and now I’ve already started organizing next year’s version (these are my fav, FYI)!!! How is this even possible?!

This past year was a whirlwind of joy and wonder and opportunity — and while it was one of my busiest yet, it was also so full of simple + slow moments.

For the longest time, I’ve been a multi-tasking queen, but, as I shared at the beginning of the year, I’ve realized that’s not actual something to brag about.

(Side note: if you missed that January reflection post — stop here and read it now, and then come back! It’s a good one.)

I’m so glad I realized the importance of rest and unproductivity at the beginning of the year. It was the fuel for CHANGE, as I set boundaries for my business and personal life more than ever before while planning out my days and weeks and months of 2022.

After all, as a small business owner, there is *always* something that can be worked on. Editing, blogging, website maintenance, bookkeeping, marketing, social media, file backups, education, a portfolio refresh, emails, YOU NAME IT!

Add in the never-ending mom duties…

…and, well it’s easy to just always be forever semi-working all the time.

The same is true for the month of December! It’s so easy to get caught up in ALL the opportunities and activities and options and THINGS floating around Instagram/Pinterest/your friend group/WHATEVER.

But, here’s my invitation to join in on the unproductive hours of December.

You can say no to things, and this season will still be magical. :)

Because after all, saying no really allows you to say YES to the things and people and moments that matter.

And, as the saying goes: presence is truly the greatest present, after all.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Happy December, friends!

PS I am going to be around on the blog a lot in the next few weeks before taking time off to celebrate the holidays! I’m so excited to share many of the families and couples I had the joy of photographing over the last year and can’t wait for you to meet them! You can expect a daily post throughout the week. :) See you soon!
