Monday Lovin’

Happy first day of MAY!

It may be rainy and gross outside, but the summer girl inside of me is leaping for joy at being one step closer to warm days and late sunsets heading our way. And even better? May means wedding season has officially begun! I can’t wait to photograph Bekah & Brad‘s day this weekend — it’s going to be wonderful!

Speaking of weddings…I had so much fun shooting with Ivan & Louise this past Saturday! Emily is in her third trimester, so anything I could do to help her rock her wedding day was a plus. I love getting to work with other professionals and see how they approach common wedding scenarios. And of course, when said professional is one of your best friends, you just can’t NOT have the best time!! :)

As always, a mismatch assortment of favorite moments / lessons learned from the past week!

  • Costco should officially be the sponsor of all things last-minute family related! My aunt flew in from DC to pick up my grandparents and drive them back to the East Coast, which made for a super quick trip in on Sunday. Of course, we had to all get together and celebrate — but thanks to my siblings’ soccer schedules, the par-tay got moved to our house at the end of the week! Luckily, a Friday run to Costco resulted in delicious lasagnas, spinach ravs, and fun appetizers, too! Love that place so much!
  • Speaking of food…I tried to take my aunt to The Garden Table on Mass Ave after picking her up from the airport, but the hour wait sent us looking for another solution. Enter: The Eagle. After all, who says 11am is too early for mac ‘n cheese, biscuits, and the best darn fried chicken I’ve ever tasted?! :) Haha!
  • I’ve welcomed three new brides into the Sami Renee family in the past two weeks, and I am thrilled to capture their stories next year! One of them may or may not be in SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA. I know, just give me #allthecactusthings. I can’t wait!
  • Oh, another fun thing: I’m just really in love with Showit5, the company I host my website with. One of the biggest benefits is the unlimited number of Plus Sites! You’ve seen those in the past a-la my education site (education.samireneephotography.com). However, I always dreamed of using them to make personal mini-websites for my brides & grooms! An online home with links to both PASS galleries and blog posts?! Yes, please!! I sent them out to all my 2017 brides on Friday, and they were so excited!
  • And apparently I’m all about the website updates this week, because I also fine-tuned my page for Seniors, too! While I focus mostly on weddings and lifestyle newborns, the teacher in me always loves the opportunity to capture high school seniors, and I am so excited to now have a space for that online. Check it out HERE.
  • Last but not least, white vinegar is officially the coolest liquid around. Our coffee machine had been chugging along quite slowly these days…but a quick brew (or 4) of 1/2 water, 1/2 vinegar mixture, and we’re running like Day One! And that’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.

A sweet preview of what’s coming to the blog this week!
