It’s a brand new day on the SRP blog, as I am sharing the very first Behind the Scenes post EVER! And guys. I have to say, it might just be my new favorite! I figured this was the perfect way to kick off my annual “Year in Review” series. Every year, I look back on all the weddings and sessions I had the joy to be a part of, and I gather my favorite images into a blog post. You can see past ones HERE, HERE, and HERE. However, I’ve never done a “Year in Review” post quuuuiiite like this one.
You see, sometimes I think this job can seem a little glamorous…but really, behind every gorgeous shot is an overly joyful crazy smiling sometimes jumping and occasionally awkward gal (ME) slightly freaking out about how amazing it is to call this her job. :) I get to witness the BEST-DAY-EVER every weekend, and for that I am forever grateful! We seriously have the BEST time on wedding days, and I just love that these images show that!!
Also, I can’t let this post go by without giving a shout-out to my awesome second shooters! Molly, Lauren, Maggie, & Christa — you ladies were LIFESAVERS, and I loved getting to bring you alongside my amazing couples! You all served each and every one of my brides and grooms so well, and that’s always my number one goal on wedding day!! Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
But now, let’s get down to business. You see, I may be a photographer…but I wear many hats on wedding day! Timeline Coordinator, Veil Fluffer, Train Fixer, Snack Grabber, Tissue Holder, Emotion Calmer, Cake-Cutting Instructor, Light Tester, Joke Teller, Flower Girl / Ring Bearer BFF, etc etc etc.
And sometimes…literal ones!
“And over here we have: ALL OF INDIANAPOLIS!!!”
Looking for cars? Trying not to get blown away? Maybe both?
Juuuuust gettin’ a little hopscotch practice in between shots! #nobiggie
And let’s not forget the time I climbed on top of my car to catch that golden hour glow!
*So* photogenic!
Wedding day super power? Insane Height Growth.
Either that, or being practical invisible during the ceremony.
Really! You’ll never know I’m there!
See??
I mean, why don’t we just play a game of “Where’s Sami?!”!
To the left, to the left, to the left, to the left….
To the right, to the right, to the right, to the right!
Now SLIIIIDE (that hand right into a gorgeous bouquet shot…)!
Speaking of hands, let’s talk about my wedding day catchphrase: HANDS IN POCKETS!! :) :)
Of course, it might help if I actually ever had pockets to put my own hands into when reminding the guys of this little trick…
It may look like chaos…but that adorable moment of Aric and his grandma you see happening right in the middle? (P.S. Heeeyyy Jenn Van Elk!!)
Got it!! :)
I also just realized there are *a lot* of photos of me crouching. #sorryback
Still crouching…
Yay posture!!
My reaction to Scott’s Best Man’s suggestion of the infamous “Butt Pose”. #facepalm It’s right up there with the groomsman in the back! ;)
(Also, here’s the official result of the “Butt Pose” request. No, it didn’t make it onto Scott & Christina’s blog post, but I figured I had to share it here now!)
“Guys! I want a hug, too!”
SO EXCITED FOR THE CEREMONY!!!!
“The Crouch Returns”: Part 3
Teaching the flower girl all about detail styling….while crouching. #oops
I mean really. Distant relative of the Tyrannosaurs Rex? It’s possible.
“Okay guys. I know we’re totally standing in THE MOST AMAZING BASKETBALL ARENA IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, but keep your cool, kay?!”
“Oh wait nevermind…THEY JUST TWEETED US!!!”
And let’s not forget that one time Chris & I were last-minute models for Molly Carr Photography and Blush & Blossom Event’s styled shoot!
….and then a super huge banner appeared in The Fashion Mall on Black Friday with our photo on it! #famous
My normal wedding day stance? Not *quite* as glamorous….#oops
But really truly, this job is my favorite thing in the world!!!
Thankful doesn’t even begin to capture it all. What an amazing year 2017 has been!
Stay tuned for the “Best of Weddings & Engagements” coming soon!!!
