I am so happy to share the very first wedding of my 2018 season with you today: Lindsay and Pat’s Indianapolis Scottish Rite Cathedral wedding! It seems like just yesterday we were walking around the War Memorial Park for their engagement session, talking about balancing the craziness of Pat’s medical school courses & Lindsay’s nursing hours all while making time to invest in their relationship and plan their big day, too! Fast forward a few months, and we were meeting at The Well Coffeehouse to go over their timeline and introduce my friend Emily, who was going to be taking over day-of photography duties for me during my maternity leave.
That’s right — I actually wasn’t the gal behind the camera for this wedding, but thanks to Emily and James, Lindsay and Pat were still able to have the same experience as all of my couples. It’s not easy to hand over a wedding day to someone else…but seriously, I wasn’t even the least bit worried about doing so with these two. I knew they would take care of Lindsay and Pat just as well as I would, and I was so happy when Lindsay and Pat decided to stick with me even after sharing the news that we were expecting a baby right around their wedding day.
If anything, this whole experience has taught me the power of photography even more. As I went through and edited their images this past week, I laughed and cried right along with them. So many photos stopped me right in my tracks, and I sincerely felt as if I was right there the whole time. From the first time Lindsay’s bridesmaids saw her in her dress, to the pure happiness Lindsay and Pat shared following their ceremony (finally husband and wife!), to the emotion and surprise during Lindsay’s father’s speech during the reception, and the clear bond of love shared between both Lindsay and her dad and Pat and his mom during their dances….it was an absolutely perfect day, and I am so honored they chose to remain with me through it all!
Lindsay and Patrick’s ceremony was at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, a breath-taking church near the heart of downtown Indianapolis.
After the ceremony (and trolley-ing through downtown Indy with their bridal party, of course!!), it was time for bridal party photos! Seriously, I could not love these moments and images Emily and James captured any more!!
Lindsay, you are the most STUNNING bride!!!
The Scottish Rite Cathedral is always absolutely stunning…but the amazing vendor team Lindsay and Pat put together outdid themselves!! Everything was absolute perfection!
Lindsay and Pat chose to have their first dance on the ballroom floor as all their guests looked on from above. Love this Scottish Rite tradition so much!
During his welcome speech, Lindsay’s father gave her photos he has kept in his desk all these years. Whenever he traveled, the images of his little girl went with him…from one state to another!!
