You may have caught sweet Scarlett Mae’s Fresh 48 session on the blog earlier this week, but today I am so excited to share her newborn session! Of all the sessions I’ve done with Stephanie, this one right here — of her as a momma, with Derek & her little girl, in her little girl’s very own room — it’s just my favorite! Her soft and white air balloon inspired nursery is just breathtaking. I especially loved her cloud shelf and mobile, the vintage air balloons, and the amazing House of Belonging sign over her crib!

More than the decorations, I love thinking of all the time and effort that goes into preparing a home for the arrival of a baby. You spend nine months arranging a nursery, compiling baby supplies, researching crib/diaper/stroller brands, and more! Most importantly, you spend those nine months preparing your heart: reading all the blogs, talking with other mommas, and spending lots of time with your husband imagining what the future will hold.

But in the end, nothing can prepare you for the heart-consuming love you’ll feel for your baby. My favorite part about these sessions is never the gorgeous nurseries or adorable onesies — it’s the bond between parents and baby that is already so incredibly established at a few weeks old.

Miss Scarlett Mae, you are one loved little lady. Welcome to the world, sweet girl!
