If you can’t tell already, Drew and Michael’s engagement session was one for the books! Despite meeting in Georgia during their time with Teach for America, both Drew and Mike call Chicago home. Drew and I were both in the education school at IU, and I was thrilled when she got in touch with me about photographing her engagement and wedding in Illinois! We had talked about stopping by Wrigley Field for a few photos, but when the Cubs won the World Series the week before their session, we knew we had to make it happen no matter what! I remember Drew texting me that everything would probably have died down by Sunday afternoon, but luckily we still built some extra time into their session because “died down” was exactly the opposite of what we experienced! Haha!

And, while it definitely was whirlwind of an adventure hitting the iconic Cubs locations, it was even more memorable to see the excitement Drew and Mike shared just being with each other! Seriously! These two make each other smile like no other, and I am pretty sure they never stopped laughing!! Seriously, the way Mike smiles when he holds her close just melts my heart, and I am so excited to share some of my favorites with you today!

(Oh, and in case you were wondering….I most definitely did wear my Indians shirt underneath my top during this shoot! Haha! I get that the Cubs broke a crazy streak and it’s super exciting, but my heart is always with Cleveland! :) #rolltribe)
For those of you who aren’t Cubs fans, let me give a little backstory on these photos! The middle photo above keeps a record of how many days it’s been since a World Series win. Obviously the number was CRAZY high, but now it’s set back to 0!! And then all of the chalk wall names are a recent addition in the past week or so, too! After they won, fans started writing names of deceased relatives to include them in the legacy, and it took off!! I loved walking around and seeing all of the names and well wishes, and of course Drew and Mike had to leave their wedding date for history, too!

After the Wrigleyville craziness, we went back to the area of Chicago Drew and Mike call home! They had picked out the best spots along Lake Michigan for our shoot, and I loved getting to walk around the area they experience every day. Between the stunning skyline and bright fall colors, it was an evening hard to beat!!

Our last stop was near the most beautiful fields and ponds in Lincoln Park Zoo! I had no idea anything like this even existed in Chicago and am so glad Drew and Michael scouted out the spot — this collection ended up with some of my favorite shots from the whole night!!
