Chris and I had decided to take a fun trip over Spring Break back in January, but we weren’t quite sure where we wanted to go. We went to Seaside, Florida last summer and had the best week ever, but this time we wanted to do something a bit different! After a little brainstorming, we decided on New York City :)
If you followed along with our travels on Instagram (#NYCandtheOs), you saw lots of peeks into the fun we had already, but in order to save my feed from being completely overtaken, I tried to save the majority of photos for today! Due to the weather, I only brought my DSLR with me for one day (LOVE my ONA bag, but it’s not exactly rain proof!), so the following images are a mixture of DSLR and iPhone…don’t judge :)
We arrived in Manhattan around 6pm on Monday night and immediately hit the road! This was the ONLY sunny day of the entire week, so we tried to take advantage of as much of it as possible :)
I loved the gated-in “mini yards” on the Upper East Side :) Haha!
And Central Park? Beautiful!!
Loooved the city :)
Our first morning, we got right to work on Chris’s goal for the week: going to every coffee shop possible!!!! Haha! We made sure to hit up 2-3 a day and came home with quite a selection of NYC coffee to choose from :) Irving Farm on the Upper West Side was one of our favorites! But nothing matched the deliciousness of Levain Bakery!!!! We almost missed this below ground shop…thank goodness we stopped in :)
I was so excited to see the High Line; however, this day was absolutely FREEZING…I can only imagine how cool it would be to spend hours up there on a beautiful day!
Haha! I didn’t even realize this bench’s marks and wires made a smiley face until I was culling through in Lightroom — LOVE this!
Like I said…if we had gone a few weeks later, I bet this area would have been BEAUTIFUL! And warm! Haha!
To escape the cold, we decided to wander around Chelsea Market after the High Line, and had so much fun!!! I LOVED this clock, and the musician playing underneath made it even better! Next up? The New York Public Library!!
We sat on the NYPL steps for a while for some prime people-watching (and to give our feet a bit of a rest, too!).
We ended our week with a trip to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and I am so glad we took the time to do so! It was amazing and heartbreaking: a beautiful testament to all of those involved. I didn’t take any pictures except for this reflection of the new One World Trade Center Tower off the walls of the musuem :)I am so thankful for this time away from LIFE, and loved getting to spend a week adventuring to new places with Chris! I HIGHLY recommend traveling to NYC and can’t wait to go back again :) Those frozen hot chocolate drinks at Serendipity are already calling my name… ;)
Love love love,
Sami
