Earlier this spring, I reached out to all of my spring and early summer wedding couples in order to check in with them, encourage them, and see how they were doing in the midst of COVID wedding planning. Katharine’s response was the perfect picture of her joyful nature: while she hoped their day wouldn’t be impacted, they’d already decided a backyard wedding with just their bridal party and immediate families would be the way to go!

A few weeks later, she reached out again to share that they had officially rescheduled their reception to later this fall, but that they would still be saying “I do!” on their original date. Even better, they had decided to move their ceremony to McCulloch Park in Muncie — where Jacob proposed! I was so excited that they were still moving ahead with their day and couldn’t wait to capture their first photos as husband and wife!

Flash forward to this weekend, and what a celebration it was. I think my favorite thing about their day will forever be how much of a team effort took place! Katharine’s bridesmaids did her hair and makeup. Jacob’s aunt designed the flowers, and his mom hand-crafted the invitations. Katharine’s brother was up hanging curtains and flowers at the ceremony site when I arrived, and their families set up some camping chairs as they prepared to watch two of their favorite people get MARRIED!!

Katharine and Jacob’s day may not have looked like they always imagined, but it was absolutely perfect. From the amazing weather, to the heartfelt ceremony, to the oh-so-fun bridal party and phenomenal burrito bar for dinner afterwards, I loved every minute of it! I’m so glad to share a little peek into some of my favorites from our time together and can’t wait to celebrate again in the fall!

Congratulations, Katharine and Jacob! You’re married!!!

After their portraits, we headed over to a local church that graciously let them use their dining space for a small dinner! One of their favorite local taco shops catered the meal (just wait until you see the “bib” Katharine’s parents made for her to keep her dress clean!! Haha!) and everyone gathered around the tables to share stories of Katharine and Jacob and toast their marriage. It was the perfect way to end the evening!
