November Thoughts

If you would have told me a year ago that I would shoot SEVENTEEN sessions in a span of a month or so (September 20th – Nov 1st to be precise)…I would have laughed in your face. After all, that’s more sessions than I had the last two years — COMBINED!!!

But guess what?

That happened. Ahhh!!!!

I knew I would be busy coming back into the school year, but I just didn’t realize HOW busy I would be! The amount of love my photography business has gotten this fall continues to blow my mind & I am just so so blessed by the support and encouragement I have received. I have learned SO much in these past few months — and realized that I have A LOT more to learn! Running a small business AND teaching 140 high schoolers…it’s a little cray!

Despite the craziness, I have never felt better about where I am. I absolutely love my kiddos this year & am so thankful to be their teacher. They make me smile every day, and I just have a BLAST learning & growing with them at school. On the other hand, I absolutely  love seeing my photography business take off as well!! I have gotten to laugh with so many AWESOME couples & families this fall, and it has just been out-of-this-world amazing!

I spent a lot of time over the summer planning out my workflow & making sure I was able to approach the school year organized & ready to go. I put a pretty high expectation on myself for turn-around time: I always aim to have a session blog post preview up within the week, and I try to have the whole session to the client within 2-3 weeks of our session date! However, with end-of-quarter grades due this week, a wedding last weekend, and then getting super sick on top of it all…I am definitely a little more behind than I would like to be in this busy season!!

So, for those of you patiently waiting, this is what’s on deck :)

1. Bethany’s super fun & fresh ballet senior session

2. Amanda & Nick’s fall engagement session (best. leaves. ever.!!!)

3. Casey & Kyle’s GORGEOUS wedding from this past weekend

4. and Holly & Robbie’s Indy engagement session!!

Those will all be coming your way within the next 2 weeks, and I am so excited for you to see them! I do always post sneak peeks on instagram & Facebook throughout the week…so make sure you are following along there to get some eye candy while you wait :)

For November, my goals are pretty simple. I want to:

  • blog all session previews & share final galleries with clients
  • design the Moore’s wedding album
  • love people well & be intentional with finding out their stories
  • be purposeful with REST
  • go on lots of dates with my awesome hubs
  • stay consistent with my quiet times each morning
  • and have some great family time over Thanksgiving!!

Last but not least, I am SO EXCITED to be attending the Creative At Heart Conference in Virginia this January!!!creative at heart

It was definitely a hard decision for me to make, but I am already SO GLAD I did :) I can’t WAIT to learn from some of my FAVORITE small-biz women in the world & just be a part of a community of big dreamers & creative hearts!  If you are a creative small-business owner yourself, or even if you dream of being a small business owner, I would love to tell you more about this awesome conference! I’m always down for a roadtrip buddy :)

So, here’s to November! Let’s make it a month of intentional living, purposeful rest, & lots of love :) Happy Thursday!!

Love love love,

Sami
