I found this gorgeous lock screen by Scarlet & Gold as I was scrolling through my insta feed this morning, and it stopped me in my tracks. I had a different post scheduled to go live today, but I felt like I had to share this instead.
He makes all things new.
Our God makes all things new. What a beautiful promise! It immediately made me think about our seasons. I don’t know a lot about the scientific aspects of the seasons and their transitions…but how beautiful is it that in the midst of the death of winter, all of a sudden, spring happens. Flowers begin budding, leaves grow back, and the sun shines.
What a perfect metaphor for the Gospel, built right into our very Earth!!! How just when it seemed like God’s plan had failed, redemption came and changed everything. I always try to imagine what it must have been like to be a disciple during the crucifixion and burial of Christ. To see the one you’ve counted on, the one you’ve believed in, dead. In the ground. The hopelessness they must have felt — the embarrassment & failure!! But thank goodness that was not the end of the story.
And just like it is with the seasons, and just like it was with The Cross, it is with us. God came right to us, Emmanuel; in the midst of our sin & failure, he loves us and promises to make us new. When it seems like His plans have failed, when we are surrounded by fear and hopelessness, know it is not the end of the story. Our God redeems.
So may the seasons always remind of us of this truth. Wherever this day finds you, whatever winter you are in, hold fast to this promise: spring is coming.
