Hey hey hey, and Happy Monday!
This weekend was the perfect remedy for a crazy work week…brunch at Town Hall, catching up with a past bride & groom over coffee, my first Target shopping trip in months, two long walks with Graham through the slush, snuggly movies both Friday & Saturday night (About Time & Fury…hey, no one can accuse of us of not compromising! Haha!), a high school hockey game, and taco night with friends! It was perfect, relaxing, and FUN.
But, it’s not always like that. In life, and especially in the life of a small business owner, it’s so easy to become a slave to BUSY. After all, busy equals SUCCESS, right? So, when I find myself un-busy, I sometimes start to worry. There have been moments this slow season where I’ve found myself overcome with anxiety — where I’ve been overwhelmed with the guilt & shame of NOT being busy with photography. I start tossing & turning the same questions in my mind…somewhere between “Well, it’s the slow season, so no one else is really doing too much too, right??” and “AM I EVER GOING TO BOOK ANOTHER WEDDING EVER AGAIN EVER?!” Haha!!
But, just as I posted last week, I am learning.
This season of rest is exactly that: a season. Come June when I have a wedding every weekend…when I’m traveling to three different states in September…when I’m balancing weddings & engagements with fall family sessions in October, I know I will look back on this time with envy! So instead of being filled with worry & restlessness, I pray to be filled with PEACE. This season of life is here to prepare me for the next. So, if God thinks I need a season of rest, I can only assume he has a purpose for that :) As I was reminded by some #shereadstruth this weekend, may we always “remain suspicious that God is up to something good”…even when we can’t see the whole picture!
Oh, and in other news, I am sharing about my brand new OBSESSION for Madera Albums and AlbumStomp on Wednesday, so make sure you check back in to see some tangible goodness & learn a little more about my album design process :)
Until then, let’s remember to embrace the season we’re in, whatever that may be!
Love love love,
Sami
