Thirty hours young, Emily Joan’s world was already filled with love and joy when I walked into her hospital room at IU North! I am so thankful I was able to document her first hours during last week’s Fresh 48 session, and I can only hope for more opportunities like this in the future. I don’t have words to describe the way I felt walking back into a maternity ward and feeling all the feels from a new perspective; after all, I had just been there. It seems like only yesterday that I was the one holding a brand spanking new person trying to figure out this whole planet Earth thing!

Because of this, I loved Emily’s Fresh 48 session so much. Short and low-key, I aimed to capture Emily as she was: loved and adored, and oh so cute! I normally don’t post a lot of black and white images, but there is something about the simplicity of these images that just seem right :)
