While apparently everyone else in the world is gearing up for pumpkin spiced lattes, fall fashion, & autumn decor galore, I’m still trying to figure out where this summer even WENT! Haha! Anyone else with me?! Don’t get me wrong, after all, I love fall more than the average person (and I may or may not already have a “Leaves” scented wall plug in my classroom courtesy of Bath & Body Works…:) ), but if the craziness of the last few months have taught me anything, it’s the importance of cherishing where life has you now, in this moment. So, before I start thinking too much about fall, I wanted to write a quick catch-up post to check in!

Like I hinted at in my last personal post (ummm, more than 2 months ago! Oops!), life got pretty fast-tracked near the end of the school year. I found myself having to let a few tasks slide in order to successfully handle the MAIN things. Have you ever been there? I tend to always be the girl who tries to do it ALL, but this summer was a huge eye-opener to me on how much prioritizing matters. I am so glad I was able to recognize that it was okay to let personal blogging slide for a bit if that would allow me to serve my oh-so-amazing clients to the best of my ability :)

Of course, I couldn’t tell you my reasoning at the time, but if you kept following along on Instagram, now you know! My little self was busy creating a HUMAN!!! Ahh!!!! :) :)  Any of the energy I had left after job-searching, house-moving, teacher-planning, and not to mention being a wife/daughter/friend/soon-to-be-mom went straight into editing photos and making my client’s experience with me the best it could possibly be :) So, while I missed this blog more than you know, I am SO GLAD I said “no” for a little while; it let me succeed in the things that truly mattered!

For the upcoming months, I will still try to check in as often as I can with personal posts & educational tidbits — I love blogging and have so many things to share! However, these will be more on a biweekly basis as opposed to the three days a week you used to expect. Of course, I will always continue to blog weddings and sessions as they come :) I have some amazing couples and families to celebrate and photograph, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

All that aside, here is a little snapshot on where life has me currently :)

Business

  • I finally made the plunge and purchased a Mark III!!!! Ahhh!!! For those of you who don’t know what that is, basically just picture the goddess of all cameras, and then you have it. :) She arrived two days ago and I can’t WAIT to put her to work this weekend in Michigan!!
  • Speaking of putting my camera to work…I have four weddings in the next month and quite a few other sessions on top of that, so it will be a busy one for sure! I have been blessed with such amazing clients, and I can’t wait to serve them and witness one of the most important choices they will make in life!
  • Also, my office is currently my bed, because this preggo-lady is super tired after school. Haha! A typical day involves getting home, playing with G, and then climbing into my covers and emailing/editing/sharing/pinteresting from the comfort of my pillows :)

Personal

  • Chris and I are still working our way through fundamental house renovations! If you’ve followed along with us on Instagram, you’ve seen all the beauty of our empty floors and messed up walls. Haha! Chris has been the absolute best at making our house a home, and I can’t even imagine where we would be without him! Actually, I can…and that would be right back where we started on the day we moved in! Haha! So thankful for all his hard work :) The man’s got skillz!
  • I am loving my new district and slowly but surely figuring out the “new normal” at NHS! It’s crazy how many things are different from my past high school, but luckily enough, most of the changes are positive! I love the community at Noblesville and have some of the best classes I could imagine. Although, I greatly miss my Lakewood kiddos and teachers, too!
  • As I’m typing this, Baby O decided to do a little kicking around to remind me he’s growin’ away :) Chris & I felt him move for the first time on Monday, so that’s been a really fun part of the week! The other fun part was devouring Arby’s fries with ketchup and a chocolate milkshake…right after school…in the parking lot…because it was that good. Haha!
  • And because it’s not a true personal post without a Target shout-out, I recently purchased an awesome mustard yellow cardigan that I’m obsessed with! Yellow has never been my color, but for some reason this guy is my new best friend :) He goes with everything!!!

And that’s about it! It’s a big week in the Orndorff household: Chris’s 26th birthday was on Sunday, I turn 25 (!!!) next Sunday, our anniversary will be on Tuesday, and I officially hit 20 weeks TODAY! Some days life sure seems like it’s flying by, but man is it sweet :)

Love love love,

Sami

P.S Chris took some quick shots of me & #babyO last night to document our half-way point :) Love these so much and just can’t wait to meet him!!!!
