Casual Friday Vol. 2

Indianapolis Home Show_0009.jpg

Hey, hey, hey, and happy Friday!!! I am currently sitting on my couch, downing a Havanna Cappuccino a la Della Leva (the cutest coffee shop off 106th & 69), and eagerly looking forward to a fun weekend with a bonus day! Does anyone else just love Leap Day?! Something about it is so fun to me…I can’t wait!

In the meantime, I thought I’d share some fun things we’ve been up to the past month!

  • If you know me, you know how much I LOVE to read! I taught high school English for five years before taking this business full time. Getting lost in a good book is one of my favorite ways to relax, and ever since I discovered how to connect my Kindle to our local library last year, I’ve been flying through some really great reads! Some of my recents include:
    • “Waiting For Tom Hanks” by Kerry Winfrey – super cheesy & predictable but SO GOOD. If you love 90s rom-coms and are a sucker for films and books with happy endings, this one’s for you!
    • Such a Fun Age” by Kiley Reid – our first book club pick for the year! As a former nanny (hello, college + first year out of school!), it was super interesting to read the dynamics between Alix and Emira, and I LOVED the twist at the end.
    • “The Flatshare” by Beth O’Leary – possibly my favorite “chick lit” book EVER! (Wait, that’s a lie: I love all of them! Haha!) But seriously…this book was SO cute. Two people who share a flatĀ but never meet each other face to face. Cute post-it notes, heart-to-hearts, roommate drama…so SO good!
    • “Something in the Water” by Catherine Steadman – This one sucked. But seriously, I wouldn’t waste your time! Boring writing, anti-climactic plot, and flat characters.
    • “The Silent Patient” by Alex Michaelides – Devoured this read in a night!!! Chris gifted me with this for Christmas, and I looooved it. A good psychological thriller is always up my ally, and I couldn’t put it down!
    • “The Scent Keeper” by Erica Bauermeister — LOVE LOVE LOVE. I just got this from the library earlier this week and rolled right through it. Incredible writing (like, stop-you-in-your-tracks-and-read-again-because-it-is-so-beautiful), unique storyline, and great ending!!
    • “The Giver of Stars” by JoJo Moyes — Our second book club pick and another favorite! I adored every single character in this book and loved reading about a time in history I previously knew NOTHING about. Horseback librarians in the Kentucky mountain ranges bringing books to uneducated families? Yes, please!
  • Speaking of our book club, my friend Lauren and I started one here in Indy after a night of pizza + wine led to wanting to build community + talk about books!! We’ve met twice so far, and it has been an absolute BLAST each time!
  • Another winter staple I have to share include these three Beautycounter products that are saving my face! If you struggle with dry skin during this season, I can’t recommend them enough!
  • And finally, I may not be shooting a lot these days, but behind-the-scenes work has been going on per usual! I had so much fun launching my new website and brand on Valentine’s Day and was pumped to finish up taxes this past week, order a few new albums for 2019 couples, talk through timelines with spring 2020 couples, and schedule meetings with inquiring 2021 couples, too!

And that’s about it! Anything else you’d like to see in this space? Comment below or shoot me a DM and let me know!! Happy Friday, friends!!
