Monday Lovin’

Hey, hey, hey there sweet friend, and happy Monday!

This morning finds me sitting at our kitchen table with a coffee mug on one side and a syrup-y little waffle boy on the other. I spent the last two days with a few hundred photographers from all across the country, and while it was an amazing experience, it is so good to be home. :)

When I attended my last conference two years ago, I came home with a to-do list pages long. I was fired up and ready to add, add, add! It was the kick-in-the-butt I needed as a new business owner, and I’ll never forget the passion and excitement I felt during that drive home.

But this time? Well, I do still have a few to-dos I’ve added to my list, but most of them are about refining and reviewing processes I already implement.

Honestly, I feel like my biggest takeaway from RESET is the exact opposite of what I expected: it’s okay to not do it all.

I don’t need to do what she’s doing, and I don’t have to add what she’s adding. Just because it’s a good thing, doesn’t make it the right thing.

I just need to do me.

It seems obvious, yet at the same time not. All I know is that from a weekend of tips and tricks, the thing that resonated with me most was the following:

“It’s not about how to get MORE things done; it’s about how to get the RIGHT things done.”

I’m eager to dig into more of my notes and takeaways, to refine my “why” in order to operate out of it alone, and to look closer at what success truly means to me in the next couple of days.

Until then, here’s a few of the other things I’m loving and learning from the past week:

  • We ordered a few things from PBKids for Ryan using a Christmas gift card a bit ago, and the bag arrived on Wednesday. So far he unfortunately isn’t super interested in the toddler backpack with rhinos (don’t even ask – I just can’t even!!! #obsessed), but his beach hat? That’s another story! It’s been on his head for at least a few minutes every day, and he is just too stinkin’ cute with it. I can’t wait for Spring Break in Florida!
  • My new favorite work spot? The Well Coffeehouse in Fishers! I was able to stake out a spot last week and put in a pretty solid work day, complete with a Cozy Sweater Latte and Applesauce Muffin, too! If you’re in the Indy area and haven’t checked it out yet, it’s definitely worth the drive.
  • Oh, and if you ever want to do flat lays, seriously all you need is a cheap-o poster board and some fresh tulips from TJs. I was feeling crafty during one of Ryan’s naps on Friday, so I set up some fresh greens, grabbed a few random props from around the house, and snapped some shots! I love how they turned out and want to start making this a bi-monthly thing! Any other #bossladies wanna join?
  • Chris makes me coffee every morning, and I have grown to love a good cup with extra milk + sugar, please. My Starbucks order is normally all about the fun lattes and macchiatos, but I tried to keep it basic on Sunday with a plain iced coffee with milk and sugar. Guys. It was like straight syrup and creamer to boot!! Any tips on how to order it next time? Or should I stay away from their iced coffee in general??
  • Finally, I busted out the spring candles over the week. It’s always a bittersweet thing for me, as I love my fall/winter scents more than the next gal…but on we most go! My future sister-in-law gifted me a “peony” scented candle a few months back, and it’s absolutely divine! Do you have any recommendations for any other spring-y scents?? I’d love to hear them below!

And that’s about it friends!

Enjoy this sneak peek from the shoot-out I participated in with Elle Danielle and six other photographers on Saturday (ahhh!!!), and have a beautiful Monday!

Love love love,

Sami

  1. Linda says:

Try doing the Starbucks iced coffee with no sugar! The syrups are pretty sweet as it is. My personal favorite is an iced coffee with toffee nut and cream! If it’s too strong I’ll add sugar myself :)

  2. Emily says:

You should order your iced coffee like this:

“Grade iced coffee with NO classic syrup, but with milk and sugar instead” And maybe tell them what type of milk you like and how much sugar. :)

Loved spending the weekend with you!

  3. Hahaha, why didn’t I just have you order for me?! Printing this out & taping it to my dashboard so I don’t make the same mistake again. ;)
