To say that sharing this lifestyle newborn session with you today is a joy would be quite the understatement. And surprisingly, it’s not because of the perfectly styled nursery, the adorable swaddles, or the phenomenal lighting. Those things are all nice, but at the end of the day it comes down to this: lifestyle newborn sessions are all about the people. They’re a permanent mark of the start of a brand new family, a record of all the love and joy and peace a room can hold, and an amazing space to slow down and be in the midst of all the change and anxiety the newborn days can bring.

And this session just so happens to be full of some of my favorite people! Emily is one of my best friends and an amazing photographer, too — in fact, we became friends after she photographed our newborn session with Ryan! It has been so fun to walk these last nine months with her. She and James are already the best parents to little Graham, and you can just tell how much he adores his mom and dad! What a great little guy!

Most importantly, I love the way Emily and James are already building legacy into their sweet new family — from the “XO” swaddle Emily chose in honor of her Grandma to the tiny print of James’ baby hand decorating the walls, and even their choice to name their son Graham, to begin with! Their captivated with him through and through, and it was such an honor to capture all the baby snuggles our time together could hold!
