So maybe putting together all of these images in one post wasn’t the smartest idea for this pregnant momma. Haha! I seriously can’t scroll through these images without tearing up! Photographing lifestyle newborn sessions is such a passion and joy of mine. I truly LOVE these sessions so much and am so glad I chose newborn work to be a core part of my brand alongside weddings.
You see, lifestyle photography may not be the most common approach to newborn sessions here in Indianapolis, but there is just something about photographing a new family in their own home that is so, so perfect to me. Capturing that one-of-a-kind bond between mommas, daddies, and their little ones makes my world go ’round. And this year, I had the chance to photograph that special sibling love so many times, too! There’s just nothing quite like it…and again, I’m tearing up imagining Ryan with his little brother this spring! Ahh!
But back to what I was saying…I love these lifestyle sessions because the newborn stage is such a delicate time. There is so much change and not anywhere near enough sleep, but oh how special it is regardless. These sessions give me the chance to gift my families with the space to S-L-O-W down and soak in that little person they have just met. They’re full of baby snuggles, rocking chairs, and sweet moments.
And they matter.
Because a few months from now, when that little one is crawling around and oh-so-curious about the world around them, lifestyle newborn sessions allow you to look back and remember those first days. How hard and long and trying they were…but also how soft and sweet and beautiful, too. Being able to give that to my families is absolutely priceless.
This year was also so special as I was able to capture my very first birth, too! You’ll see a few of those images sprinkled throughout this post, along with several Fresh 48 sessions and maternity sessions, too.
Enjoy some of my favorite moments from the FOURTEEN beautiful families I had the joy of photographing this past year!
What an amazing year 2017 has been!
