Gorgeous couple. Awkward crouch. It can only mean one thing….
The newest addition of everyone’s favorite post is HERE!!! 2018 Behind the Scenes!!
I had so much fun sharing last year’s Behind the Scenes post — proving once and for all that, contrary to my instagram feed, life as an Indianapolis wedding photographer isn’t all gorgeous details, stunning couples, and melt-your-heart tear-jerkers. No, no, no, folks. Once a year, I share all the hunched backs, awkward cameos, and hilarious snaps in between!
In all seriousness, I love putting together this post every year. I can’t believe another wedding season has come and gone! Looking back on 2018 fills me with so much joy. Seriously — I get a front row seat into so many best-day-evers, and it’s simply the greatest!
This wedding season was also extra special, as I got to shoot almost every one with my cousin, Maggie! Having her as a consistent second shooter was THE BEST — she loved my couples so, so well and they loved HER!!! I can’t even begin to say how awesome it was shooting together!!
Also, thanks for being a #standinbride for all the times I needed to test light. #notanewprofilepic #ipromiseweareworking
I say this a lot: I LOVE MY JOB! Mainly because I love people and marriage and telling stories….
But also: LIGHT.
I love me some good light.
Which, you can clearly see in this photo below. Just your average wedding photographer, NERDING OUT about the golden hour glow we were able to catch! If you’ve ever worked with me, you know the happy dancing and “EEEEKKKK”s were shortly following. Haha!
I only wish you could see my face…but the “LOOK AT THAT LIGHT” hand tells the story enough. :) :) :)
Also, see below for A) the most gorgeously composed BTS shot ever (thanks, Mags!) and B) further proof that I get really excited about good lighting.
But really, I just love my couples a lot. #professionalthirdwheel
So much so, that sometimes I try to take hold of their hands and walk off into the distance, too.
Demonstrating “The lean”….AKA Reason #2596204 why I’m behind the camera and not in front! ;)
And then there’s this next collection, fondly titled: “Wait. You Didn’t Want Me In Your Photo?!”!
(Side note: The most embarrassing part in all of these is definitely the face I’m making. Like, is that what I *always* look like in transition from one place to the next?! EEK!! Haha!)
That one time I used Maggie’s shoe to help reflect clean light back on the invitation suite…
You can basically just consider me one of the bridesmaids. :)
That, or your friendly neighborhood button fixer…
…bug swatter…dress zipper…
…dress holder…weather stalker…
…flower girl cheerleader…hair dresser…
…and story-teller extraordinaire (or whatever it is I’m doing with my hands over there. Haha!)!
Really, I do it all. Except, apparently, capturing the moment this little dude was getting. ;)
Again, not quite sure what I’m photographing here, either! ;)
(It was the stained glass windows. Lol!)
These ones, it’s a bit more obvious. Gotta love that form!
And, just a quick break for some heart-to-hearts, guys! #againwiththatthirdwheel
Ceremony time = game face.
But also, I apparently do this exact pose/expression at every. single. wedding. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sliiiiiiiide to the left!
Sliiiiide to the right!
Kind of like “Where’s Waldo?”…but, “Where’s Maggie?!”
Seriously, she’s the best at hiding.
Me, on the other hand? Not so much.
Like, seriously.
But, I *can* do a pretty mean karaoke impression with my camera + flash!
*trying to make gorgeous photos, ends up getting in the way*
Talking photos + walking = harder than it looks.
I know there’s always a lot of talk about how the groom looks when he sees his bride walk down the aisle…but what about the photographer?! #lovemybrides
…especially when I run into past brides / mommas at weddings, too! :)
But really. We are so incredibly thankful for an amazing 2018 wedding year!!! What an honor to have been part of so many beautiful celebrations!!
P.S. I can’t not share this sweet photo Monica grabbed of me & the boys at our last wedding of the year! Thanks, girl!
Make sure to check back in for more 2018 in Review posts coming up soon!
